a line that grows

this is probably a dumb question but I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I want a line to begin and grow ie: like when you show a map and you want to show the journey starting from one end to the other leaving its trail behind, thanks

The simplest way is:

You have a line between point A and point B (Which is masked object)
Now all you have to do is move your mask.

yes but I have to see the whole line and it has 90 degree angles, would the mask have to be the size of the whole line , the line has to stay in the movie as part of the map, after it is shown once it then stays there, thanks for your help.

make a line using the line tool, then select the tip of the line and scale it down , use a shape tween when you scale bigger or smaller, then it will seem like your line grew
