I learn Flash about 5-6 months but i'm still not good. I learn it myself, dont have any courses, and any books. I saw tutorials and follow it. I dont have enough money to purchase Flash books to learn more. :(
If u have some old, used books about Flash( or about computer), please send them for me. I want to learn more about Flash.

in practice I think it is much enough for you to be a guru if you read all tutorials can be found in web. frankly i prefer this way and brought few books about Flash.

yup, don't have any books either...
best way to learn flash according to me is use the tutorials on
http://www.actionscript.org
http://www.flashkit.com
http://were-here.com
http://www.kirupa.com
or just google to the part you wanna know ;)

baby_annie,
Not trying to sound rude here or miss-guided, but surely you must be able to save up for just a good solid Moock book or something (just a discounted flash 5, even a previously owned Flash 5 one on Amazon) - i mean it might take a while, but it must be achievable, they're going pretty cheap now
Tutorials here a good anyway - i admit (i should know), it can be a pain teaching yourself (especially in Flash where there is 100 ways to do the same thing), but it has its plus points too, that is, you really have to grasp concepts because its not just a matter of getting something in Class.
Regards, snapple :)

you dont need book.
all you need is many examples, tutorial, trial and error, time.
+ good forum that will help you when you need help.
it took me about one year to get comfortable with flash.
so keep at it.

You don't need books or something like that.
I learned flash without anny programming experiances,...
Just do the tutorials here (read the beginner tutorials, or try them on your own). purchase flash in your language, so that you understand the reference.
Try something easy first (my first one was a preloader) and advance to more complicated things.
if you see something, you think you might be able to do on your own: give it a try!
the two things you need: time and actionscript.org!
I started learning flash around october 2002

agrees with all the previous posters... no books are needed...just work on it...have a problem post it here hehehe someone smart or knowledgable always helps out...
open source is a great way of learning
prototypes are good functions to look into
somoene said components is another way to learn some details of flash
but it really depends wat you wanna get accoplished in flash
