View Full Version : Want an AS.org Shirt?
Jesse
06-29-2003, 03:54 AM
Annexion has connections and says we can get ActionScript.org shirts printed very cheaply; we're thinking about $10 - 15 USD for a shirt with the simple AS.org logo printed on it (or possibly something else), including shipping.
We've never really botherred to think of this before but I figured I'd ask and see if there was demand for such a product. Please vote according to your size. It's not a binding contract, we just need ideas of sizes.
As always, feel free to flame the idea and express other ideas if you have any.

Out of interest, what does a (cheap) T cost in the US?
Timmee_3Styler
06-29-2003, 04:56 AM
5 bucks in CDN
so i guess 3 bucks in USD?
but those are on supersale.....when i head to the states
their mostly 10 bucks for the cheapones
annexion

Well, you can get the discounted ones that no one wants for $3.
Depending on the store you'd see them for $10 -$25.

Not trying to push the price up or anything, but $10 - isn't that like £7 - how can you get a shirt for that, well one that would last and that feels ok ??? Or have i been getting ripped all my life.
Anyway - i think it's a GREAT idea - and i would definitely buy one, i put myself down for a medium.

And what size is 'large'?
In the UK that would fit a dwarf who was a bit on the large side.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
Sualdam
06-29-2003, 04:10 PM
I am 6' 1" and I have a 46-48" chest.
I know that 'large' will not fit my shoulders (been there, done that, got the T-shirt, so to speak) :D
Always the shoulders... :(
annexion
06-29-2003, 04:25 PM
That wouldn't be a problem. We'd just have to know for sure that you wanted one as it's an odd size.
Not all of us have chests like an ox :p
Sualdam
06-29-2003, 04:28 PM
Seriously, at that price I'd take a couple if I was sure they were big enough (nice if there were different colours or designs).
Shipping would be pretty minimal for just T-shirts.
(You edited out that 'geekdom' bit - I liked that :))
I always thought most people went for XL sizes - they always sell out first. Then you find that they only have sizes for strange people left.

as long as the price is under 20 us $ and it is good quality shirt
i dont mind..
i also think AS.org should make some profit.
it will be used to better this place and that is good thing.
i guess many design selection will raise more money :)
how about logo "i am an ActionScript Flasher" with a guy with a longcoat. :)

I think 15-20$ (included shipping) isn't cheap but it's ok. But I'm very small and thin, you will have to have a special T-shirt for me.
:D
Yeah I would like one, perhaps two, or 3, or more... No no stop here... LOL
But I wonder, where you will made it? In AUS, in US.
Else for the price... Hmmm. I think there is only the guy really liking the forum that will buy the shirt so... I think you should put a price not so cheap. I mean, take some $$ for you (to pay the new host eg).
I think 20$ is ok for me (with ship in it neturaly)... And I'm eager to see the design and buy them... :p
CU... (???and why not other goodies???)
PS:
Simply wash it with hot water, and all wil be ok. It's a specialist talking to you. All my pullover are ok for barbie pupets...
senocular

lets face is, as.org is no homestarrunner.com ;) I dont think THAT many Tshirts will be sold, especially at a higher or 'normal' tshirt price with profit involved. I say break even and get the brand out there. With people wearing the shirt, awarenss will increase and with that viewers and (hopefully) advertisers. A lower price will appeal more to the casual as.org member and will get more shirts sold and out there on the streets.
...thats just me :)
And just an idea... Take a photo of a noraml man (with his height written with near him), then we could knwo how the shirt is. Casue yeah large is so different depends of country. Look large for US and large for vietnam. Hmmm...
So I think a photo of a guy (you?) wearing the shirt with the height (weight?) could be nice...
CU
I'm ok with you senocular but do you think that ALL the member will get this shirt. I think that most of the buyer are regular user. And like other forum there is only few regular members (compared to the number of existing user.. hé).
So i dunno.
But, I know that everybody wanna the cheaper shirt he can. But for as it's time to get some $$... So...

This started out as a 'nice to have' because someone involved at AS.org had contacts.
It doesn't need to turn into a whole new business plan... :D

Ha ha - I like that. Do we get some say on the design of it at all ... or am I just being picky now? I reckon we could get some great designs or funny slogans from some of the guys here.
Oh yeah ... and stick me down for one too:cool:

Umm. When I said I'd buy a couple, I meant as in 'normal T-shirts with the AS.org logo'.
We're in danger of ending up with something involving the Hulk, Spiderman, and the Teletubbies here.
If anything childish/dumb (including wordz with l3tt3rs or 'z's in it) is involved, count me out ;)

I think they know enough about porn as it is :(
My money is on a black shirt with the actionscript part of 'ActionScript.org' in white and/or a white one with the actionscript part in black. Either on the breast or across the chest, but definitely NOT on the back.
A tie-dye is also an acceptable alternative T-shirt colour - but that's as far as I'll go. The Hulk, Spidey, Keanu Reeves (especially r33v3z), or anything else that cries 'this shirt was designed by a retarded 5 year old' is right out. :D

The ActionScript[org] logo is already there, isn't it? I thought that was the idea - to put that on a T-shirt.
I never thought about it like you just said
I'm wondering how Annexion will get 256-colour designs 'done cheaply' :D (well, someone's bound to come up with a rainbow design, aren't they?)
May as well go out and buy a Versace T-shirt, then :)

07-02-2003, 01:20 AM
Sualdam, that's exactly the issue with having a bunch of designs. The price we have is based on two colors. I got the quote assuming the logo would be on it.
It would be cheaper for a single color though, as logic would tell you. I guess we shall see.
Yup i'm agree for the logo part, + somthing else I think... O r many design...
i know, i'm saying nothing new, but I'm one more man telling this.

Yeah. I've had T-shirts made in bulk before and I know what you mean.
I know it makes me sound like a party-pooper, but if the question is simply 'if-we-do-it-will-you-buy-it', the answer is yes or no.
If it's about designs, well thats infinity+1 possibilities straight away :) Maybe I could get one in time for Christmas 2010...

I can see it's taking all our imaginations here
lol
I once suggested to make some car/..... stickers with the logo and the website address, but wasn't a good idea - as i was told
but I think this must be thought about deeply, like knowing first for such sites, how many or did they sold any T-Shirts at all (with the price of course, for the members or others, ........)
Also, as it'd be sold abroad where they were manufactured, I say the price should be collected first
and a lotta things should be considered other than the design now

Whats the problem there? I just think if you let others who will actually buy this item, we are all designers....majority would like to have a go design their own concept. I just think if we pick a couple from the designs then maybe we can have a sweet T-shirt which will not be GEEKY and maybe help Jesse with sales.
Anyone can have a simple T - shirt print with a name on it.

If you want wacky unique designs, you can do it yourself.
http://www.t-shirt-shop.co.uk/
If you want to order in bulk and be sure you please the majority, unique designs aren't necessarily the way to go.
JHallam
07-02-2003, 05:53 PM
wacky and unique? that site sucks, you cant design anything unique on a site like that. I'm sure most of us here are designers.
So whats the point using other site when we have a board of designers anyway? I don't see the logic!
Sualdam
07-02-2003, 06:08 PM
Well, if you check it out properly you you'll see that you can upload any image and have it put on the T-shirt. Yes. Even ones you design yourself.
So actually, I don't understand YOUR beef with the site (I only posted it as a joke anyway  )
Original quote:
Annexion has connections and says we can get ActionScript.org shirts printed very cheaply; we're thinking about $10 - 15 USD for a shirt with the simple AS.org logo printed on it (or possibly something else), including shipping.
Translation: Annexion's getting a freebie (sort of).
I'm still trying to figure out where it implied that you'd be able to design your own in a range of materials and colours, with free fitting, and free laundering for a year after purchase.
Translation: Annexion's getting taken advantage of (sort of) and this won't happen after all.
:D

I did, but why design and bother uploading an image, when you can just design it yourself? lol I suppose if I was going to order it from those, I would but I'd rather design it myself in illustrator or something. Why not? thats my job! That's all the point I was getting at!

Aaargh!
I didn't mean we should either.
I posted it to try and make a point to everyone who is missing the point - that Annexion is getting a freebie (-ish) on a bulk order of simple T-shirts.
Everyone wanting their own design (and talking about 'design' competitions) is NOT going to equate to a bulk order of a simple T-shirt. If they want something personal then THEY could use one of those sites. That was my (not very good) point :D
We already have a logo. Why the hell change it (and take advantage of Annexion) to boot?
The best part is, most of the combatants here probably won't buy one in the end because of the cost
