Well you wont win any design prizes and I got a little seasick =)
Not embedding the swf in html and have a fixed size makes the images look bad as you never know what size the users browser is currently at. It also makes the movie slow down if viewed on a high resolution monitor and big browser size.
Stating it took you 4 hours explain the lack of interface design. Why show anything winged in 4 hours?

I guess cause if itz that bad are not usuable he doesnt have to continue?
well
i guess thats why i posted it here
in the end whatever the result will be embedded in an html file
fixing the size to 550x400
but creating an html template and trying to publish to it
always ends up meaning redoing the template or having 50 versions of the same thing.
mainly trying to use a small space efficiently
and negative space as well.
i had the menus just ease in - but seemed a bit stagnant
so i played with ballooning.
i wouldnt say that i 'winged it' but am actually a little
proud i was able to get it to work in 4 hours w/o
running into any glitches
its the 1st attempt at a fully scripted site.
is it really that hard to follow the links?
CCW rotation to the main content

is it that bad? errr

Its more like you did not put that much effort in it.
For instance one of the thumbnails is not linked. Also it would look much better if the thumbnails had the same size, a small frame around them wouldnt hurt either.
Having a drop shadow under the bigger images would add some depth.
And there is not an awful lot of content to judge either. Some contact info would be nice ( not just a unlinked email adress ), to see some sites you made or some other work you have done.
The green framework seem out of context, also the black background behind the thumbnails.
Flash is capable of producing wonderful graphics with its gradient tool. I also think scripting is a very good method for some things, but to make it for the scriptings sake is not good. Sometimes tweens are more effective.

i appreciate all the input
its a partially completed project
i wanted a bit of input beore i went further with it.
maybe should have mentioned that earlier
are the images that are there nice?
i have yet to convert all my images to usable sizes and what not

gradient fill? flash5?
I dont get what you mean. How to use gradients? In Flash 5?
yeah i guess so,
i assume you arent talking about the default fills
flash5 offers
i know no other way besides importing an image
with a fill i like

Many of the defaults are useful but making your own is better of course. And studying what gradients are used in real life, look at buttons on various devices, thay all have gradients you can copy in the gradients tool ( almost all). You can see game I made where everything is made in Flash with the gradient tool as an example.

this kid got skillz and Im so gonna touch up on a few techniques tonite to improve my site ;)
tried to soke up the advice
got a few to do some editing
-framed the file - fixed size
-took out most of the bouncing
-added some high lites - although i went thru the tutorial
from vector kid - think it would easier to import a graphic symbol
for the effect
-1/10th of the content is posted

A couple of notes ( just a reflection on what my eyes react to ).
You have made the framework outside of Flash and its not following the swf position ( see attached image how it can look when window is resized).
Another thing to think about is lighting. The framework indicates light is coming from bottom right, as your logo, but the shadows under the textpanels are both left and right shadows and the shadows under images indicates the light coming from the upper left.
The text under photo is poorly aligned and differs from the other texts that has a left justification.
could be the html/stylesheet i suppose
i can resize to any size with no probs
what browser you use?
i can make the border with flash easy enough i suppose
as far as the lighting i am trying to simulate spot lights
and create depth
so each section has its own spot light - the lights could come from
any direction and cast their own shadows
and yes i had the gradients bass akwards to the shadows
and have fixed it
the alignment will be fixed

Im on Mac IE 5.0 G4 OS 9.1
a mac -w IE?
hmm, the border is made up of nested tables
with stylesheet set attributes for the BG - border -& H/W
know of any quirks with macs and stylesheets?

Im not up to date with html stuff, but Mac and PC's dont seem to like each other.
i have done some editing to my scripted site
pellepiano - i removed all the style sheets from the html BG
is there still an SWF alignment issue?
i added a number of the full size images, and a few subtle effects
all the thumbs enlarge
- the purchase mouse over effect
question on that - its an MC with a button in it - the button has
the pop up text as an MC on the 2nd,3rd,4th frames , top layer - but the mouse over area seems to be the whole area of the popup text before that movie loads.
- the section headings
- image thumbs - scroller - no clicking to scroll
looking better?

on am planning on adding contact info - in the form of a form
soon
thanks again,

if i only had more time...

Yes its better now. It looks the same even when resizing the browser.
I didnt get the question though. Im a little pressed for time so I didnt investigate it.

hi,
the site is processor-intense.
if i click on the "photos"btn and wait, i have running loops in the background rockin my cpu about 36% all time.
And man, i got 2.8 GHZ Intel 4 Processor. U should stop the enterFrame-loops after animation. Am i right?
greets teebee
tried to post a few ago - page wouldnt load
anyhow - i changed a couple things
so take another look see if its better.
i havent run into to any problems with bogging
have a p4 1.8ghz
and have tested on a cel 600 i have at work
seems ok
but i looked thru the main movie, and all the ones that load as
far as the 'photos' button
each section is a movie loaded into the main movie, and then
unloaded later - would that add to it?
right now - my site is up
flash5 running with 6 movies open
this forum
the whole Norton suite
among a few other small things runing
at 56% resources
runs about 70% with nothing open ( i know thats crappy ) but...
thanks,
soup
