Only Works in HTML?

Can someone please explain to me why some .swfs only work when embedded in an HTML page, but will not work as standalone files.

It seems like this is an F5 phenomenon, as I don't recall it happening in F4.

what are you talking about exactly ? about swf files founds in your browser cache ?

some developper have their own tips to prevent from ripping. It doesn't work every time, but is quite efficient.

No, sorry. I'm talking about playing .swf files on my harddrive.

I've enver experienced this but I recall users whom it happenned to in Flash 4 also so it's not a bug.
I'd look into your code, as it's mor elikely to be the cause. Possible a conditional cluase not being met?
