Hey
Can anyone tell why, how and for which purpose i should use scenes?
What are they good for at all?

You should never, under any circumstances, use scenes!!! :D Frame labels work just the same, except that they actually work most of the time, which is not the case for scenes :)

Scenes might accualy be good if you make a long movie, without complex scripts. Becuase it can be easier to look over the movie that way. elsewise its pretty dumb.

^In that case, with a big movie, the file size would be massive w/o scenes, so it might not even be a good idea there... because the file size would be even higher...
I'm leaning to a more dynamic approach. Anything that I can do in actionscript, I'll do it. It gives me tools for the future, with a smaller file size. :)

I gotta agree with colin.. I'm currently learning and simultainously building a new site for the company I work for and the first one I did was straight animation from 3dsmax and swift3d, then I did a complete revision with my newly acquired knowledge and rebuilt it and added several new intense elements and the files size is still far below the original. Dynamic movies is where it is at..
