Hi
I'm developing a Basic Computing Skills course for beginners, and am using Flash to animate it. The course talks absolute beginners through using a mouse etc. right up to using packages like Word, PowerPoint etc.
I've got a bunch of .fla's which I then publish to .swf and .htm files. The "backbone" of the whole course is housed in these .htm files, which has "more" and "back" (using JavaScript) buttons so the user can navigate from topic to topic. It's basically like one big website with embedded .swfs. These .swfs have voiceovers in them, talking the user through various procedures. I've imported .wav files into Flash, then exported them as MP3's using various Export and Publishing settings, depending on the quality of the originals. I then test the .swf and .htm files I create with Flash, and everything seems fine - the sound is good.
Trouble is, when I then open the whole project, ie. the "backbone" .htm file, and listen to the voiceovers, I get a crackly interference on the sound that sounds almost like a dodgy connection or loose wire. It sort of "sparks." The weird thing about it is that this crackling invariably dies down to nothing after I've played a few voiceovers. Also, my client tells me that if they run through the whole course and play multiple voiceovers, their machine eventually crashes, as if "all the sound files aren't being closed down" - their words. This is something I have been unable to recreate.
My control buttons in Flash are using "Stop All Sounds" commands anytime you want to see another page so I don't know why this is happening.
Help!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this - any suggestions at all would be hugely appreciated.
TIA
