Transparent background in photoshop

Hi

Do anybody know how I can make a PNG image have a transparenty background in photoshop?

choose save for web, select png and turn on transparency

That only works when GIF or PNG - 8 is set as the filetype, but when the file type is set to PNG - 24 ( which gives the quality I need for my picture ) the background becomes grey, even if i select transparency. What can i do to solve that problem?

It's only the background which is set to transparent, if that's what you mean.

maybe you should upload a scaled down version...

BT is right
save it for the web as PNG 24, then the transparent places only in your pic won't be showed
