id like to know how the effect of the purple screen was achieved.

I've managed to make a box slide up and back down but i would also like to load swfs behind it.

does anyone have any ideas.

so the transparent menu screen? Well it's just a menu with the background graphic's alpha set to something like 30%. And then the different swf's are being loaded in useing loadMovie. There's several tutorials in AS.org's tutorial section about load movie. Look them over and if you have any specific questions I'll help you the best I can.
