Attn. all Guru,
What is an ideal size for an intro movie? Is 200k consider too big? What is an average size?

weeeeeell - I'd like to say 10k :) - there's no way Im going to wait for 200k of an intro to load - unless Im pretty sure its going to be the dogs :)
on the other hand.... the intro could be 200mb for all I care - if it streams so that you're always seeing something happening aaaand there's a skip button - there's not really an issue when size is concerned.
BUT - in my oppinion an intro should be short and catchy - no more than 10 seconds
hope this is of some help

First, your site must be GOOD, so that it causes an impact to the viewer.
Then, 200K worth of waiting for an intro is O.K., because they will want to see more...
Now, in my case, I made my site with the intro avaliable from within the site, not showing every time you go there, know what I mean? The viewer only sees the intro if he wants to.
And mine is exactly 200k (big coincidence, huh?).
Anyway, much larger than this will scare off most of the surfers, so...keep it as small and fast as you can!
Check my site and intro to know what the heck I'm talking about. http://planeta.clix.pt/dmd

i think 0k. zero kay.
no intro should be necessary.
its like a commercial.
if you can skip the commercials during the Simpsons...wouldnt ya?
lets get to it...on with it...weave whatever nifty
little trick or who-ha or message into the fabric
of the site. i am guilty myself of making intros/
flash commercials, but never again.
but mr ma says: never say never and
always avoid always
dont get me wrong ive seen some very nice intros.
and if you wanna make em ... id mak em as small as possible.
thats my two cents.
