How do I add images to my flash template?

That's a rather broad question. You can add "images" to your flash project at runtime or with the aurthoring tool. At runtime, clips, the most common type of image, are added at runtime in several ways, for example:

attachMovie()
duplicateMovieClip()
createEmptyMovieClip() // Flash MX and up

Otherwise, you would import your images or draw thim in Flash's authoring tool. I suggest going through some of the tutorials that come with Flash.
