I wonder how to make this smooth and cool transition effect in the header of page:

various masks @ dif alpha levels?

im not quite sure, and that was a nice effect to it

Just thought I'd mention that the example provided in the link is not Flash.

To do it in Flash you'd put one image over the other, slice it vertically with masks then fade in each section sequentially with script.

Aye it's not Flash, I get the grasp that its Java...got some kinda plugins going on there...hard coded!
