Question about spacing.

I have an odd question. I have a flash application and a really nice tech font. It is the only decent tech font I have found. Here is the problem, the default font spacing makes this font seem very squashed together and difficult to read. This is no problem for the static text instances, I just adjust the spacing. However there are several variables displayed with this font, and some of them are in printable frames where the squashed nature of the font becomes especially bad. The option for changing the spacing between characters doesn't seem to be available in dynamic text fields. Does anyone know how to fix this so I can use this font.
