The masters of neeneenee.de has made an delicious wordfile for Ultraedit 6.x or higher (www.ultraedit.com) that did an excellent hightlightning of AS 2.0.
Beside the normal groups like strings, numbers, comments and text it will highlight keywords, classes, functions, methods, properties and old desperated syntax.

Best of all its FREE, grab it here:
http://www.neeneenee.de/vrml/wordfile.zip

About installation copy it into your wordfile.txt in unltraedit directory or read the ultraedit help.

Thanx to Hausmeista and Ston3d!

I have made the files for Crimson Edit
you unpack the zip and put them in the

x:\blah\CrimnsonEditor\spec\

folder.. then open crimson editor and
select Document -> Synax Type -> Customise
and add Actionscript 2.0 and load the key and specs files
where it asks for them...

and hey presto , magic , highlights... lights , dancing bears..
thanks to the nnneneneneeennnenneeeneee.de peoples
job well done !

Have you tried the one that comes with Flash MX 2004 itself??

Have you seen errors or missing words in ultraedit syntax file?

PS: Drop a line to actionscript.org, so they will place it in the news:

faffy:
well in that case there is no point using external editor..
:-)
There is considerable debate about the internal text editor..
i think that the consensus is that you need a big cpu
but dont quote me..
best wishes
steve..

i have just realised..
What about the exceptions ?
I dont know what they are or used them yet..
but they should be there somewhere...
such as
arrayOutOfBoundsException ???
I will have a look later...
