Hello there,

I just finished my first site (I bet you have read this part a thousand times till now...) The address is

http://www.violetsequence.com

First of all, even if know none of you, I would like to thank you all as I started looking through this site without the slightest knowledge of even what is PHP and within a week, I ended up righting scripts. You've been unexpectedly helpful!

As you're going to see from my site, I also believe in that form of open communication, and free sharing of ideas and competencies. This is why it is not an exaggeration to say that I feel honored among people like you.

For once more, thank you so much!

I actually like the design of the site, very solid color like, but still interesting. Your html formatting has something to gain, I tried to look at the source in theband.html page and my eye's immediately went crossed :p I thought you said something about php? I don't see any php in here, maybe the flash form gets processed by a php script? Over all I think the site is good for a first site, but it seems like it should have been built in html alone. Not much use of flash in the website. But, you wouldn't get those great gradients, I guess.

If it were my project I would begin by redoing the links, they are what i consider 20th century links :) . Then I would move on to spice up the gradients, maybe do them in photoshop and add some effects to bring it to life. I'd leave the organization as it is, the buttons and information. I would just spruce up the images.

Thanks for the immediate response and the comments. I tried to keep the site light and fast, so users don't have to wait long for pages to be downloaded. Therefore, the use of flash has more to do only with the artistic design of the project. And you guessed correctly on my use of PHP.

What exactly do you mean by... 20th century links (I only know 20th century fox!) I didn't get that part.

if you go to geocities, xoom, or yahoo, or another free host you can view some really old websites that use links like those. Just simple outlines, with a stock radial gradient. You can find a huge list of them here, and no one wants a website put on this list :D
