cgi and files

i have a script that uploads files, the variable that stores the file is called $filename, for some reason i cant get the filename off the $filename. is there a particular way to extract the filename out?

umm that's a bit of a vague question. see the 'loadVariables interaction' tutorial which shows how to retrieve data from server side scripts... hopefully that will help...
