Howdy... :(
I don't know what the !@#$%^&(*( is wrong with my computer but somehow I am keep getting into the problem with IIS on my local computer... :(
This time it is abit different... I am not able to get call anything on the IIS directory(D:/Inetpub/wwwroot) from the web browser if I am not online... :( (I am on dialup and using the NetZero to connect to the Internet...)
If I type http://localhost/phpinfo.php when I am connected to the Internet, I get to see the result fine... But if I try the same address when I am not online, I get that 'The page cannot be displayed' error... :( (The same thing happens when I try it with the ASP script or CF script...)
Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this???
I'm on W2K/IIS 5 and I have PHP 4.2.3 and ColdFusion MX installed...
Any help would be appreciated... ;)

What happens when you try
127.0.0.1 instead of localhost
http://127.0.0.1/phpinfo.php

Same thing happens... I get to get it working fine when I am online, but not when I am offline... and this darn phone connection gets disconnected now and then... :(
Maybe I should format the hard drive and install all of them again, or better yet, I'll need to buy another computer... and move out of this filthy apartment which has no broadband access... :(

Sounds like you have some decisions to make.

Hehe... Yeah... I've been meaning to format the hard drive for the past few months and I sorta backed up on that because there are quite a few programs to install if I were to do it... :(
Maybe I should copy the hard drive a couple of times and leave them as a backup whenever I format the computer... and use that backup hard drive whenever I need to reformat the hard drive... :D

Well this is an old post and you probably (hopefully) found a solution long ago, but... Did you try installing 'microsoft loopback adapter' drivers? Don't remember where to do it in Win2k b/c I am using XP now, but I'm guessing you would just need to go to Add New Hardware and have your 2k cd handy.

Hey, thanks for the reply, splict... ;)
Yeah... I think that only needs when I do not have a physical network adapter is installed on my machine... I might be wrong though... ;)
But then, don't worry too much about it... I am doing to file backup right now, and I think I am about half done and I'm going to format the hard drive and reinstall the W2K again...
Wish me luck... :D

Definately wishing you good luck - That is one of the most painfull chores ever!
I used Maya before I recently got (back) into Flash. With Maya we had to install the loopback driver, otherwise if we lost our network connection then we lost our ip address which would cause the security in Maya to immediatly shut it down. Could be something similar - ie. IIS won't work without an ip address.
If its too late to try that now, I guess you can give it a try afterwards if it still doesn't work.
A nice format every now and then is good to keep things running well anyways. :D Let us know how it goes.

Not now and then... You have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS if you use Bindows... No way to get away from it... :D
Um... Still backing up files... Got lots of things in there and I guess I got too much... :(
Maya, eh??? Yeah... You do need to have that loopback adapter setup with the Maya... The last one I have used was Maya 3 or something and I've had enough with that and I don't even look back anymore once I moved on... :D
