the first one dosen't talk about it at all. so i though, thats ok i'll just dl the .fla and teach myself. but it dosen't work in the .fla

so, i checked out the second one. i learned some interesting stuff, but it just put html in the variable. i need to load it from an external file.

so i'm back where i began. do you think you could help me out?

the first one does work only I forgot to include the html.txt file which is here: http://www.actionscripts.org/tutorials/intermediate/scrolling_text/html.txt save it into the safe dir as the fla. or alternatively download the source again in 5 minutes coz I'm fixing it up now to include that file.

is there no way to use a file with a html extention. rather than a txt file with a variable in it?

the extension can be whatever y ou like but the variables must be defined in the Flash format. You can't just load an existing HTML file using this method without formatting it for Flash compliance.
