I am mainly finished building the site that will launch my freelance web design service.

It is at a temporary location:
http://students.oc.edu/jarrod.drysdale/

Please give suggestions/comments about the site especially regarding the preloader and how well it works, the overall design quality, and about what the site communicates to prospective "clients."

The site is all black and white, a little bit of gray. Does it work? I have considered adding colors, but I want to stick with the theme of the name "echowhite."

Any other suggestions would be great.

Many thanks,
spec

Good site but the text is too small . One of the buttons from sample section wasn't working. The site loaded so fast i couldn't check how the preloader was working. All i saw was that it was there.

i agree with Flwd on that the text seems a bit small... maybe using the option of having the user control of text size... there is a tutorial that is written:

http://www.actionscript.org/tutorials/intermediate/Control_of_Text_Size/index.shtml

and the texSim is the one that is not working on the samples page...

did not see the preloader...

Thanks guys....I did bump up the text size a bit by using a different pixel font. I can't very well do a dynamic text size jobber with those though.

I assume the pixel fonts are showing up right?

Also, the site is only 11k, which is why it loads so fast--do you guys think that warrants a preloader? Should I take it out?

It is possible I will add more to the site later on that will increase file size.

Oh, and that texSim is not running yet--sorry I forgot to mention that.

Do you guys think the site is lacking because their is no color? I am trying to stick with the theme implied by the name.

I appreciate the comments.

In my opinion you should keep the preloader because some connection are too slow(at times) to even download 11K swiftly besides you mentioned that you might increase the file size, in that case also this preloader will be imperative. If you want to stick to the theme then the lack of color is okay but if you put a jpeg or some other art form on your page i don't think it will be a distraction from the theme . Art form will attract user's attention . Wait for other opinions too .

I added a little alpha fade to the page transitions. Do you guys like it.

Also, I think I've decided to stick with the B&W scheme. There will be work shown in the samples section later on that involves color.

Thanks for the input. Any other suggestions?

By alpha fade you mean the way text displays after btns. are clicked ? it is good, but you've not not increased the font size i think.

no actually I meant the big logo in the background behind the text.

I did bump up the text size slightly after the first time you posted. DO you think it is still too small?

do you guys like the pattern I put into the html on the sides? I think it adds a lot of depth.

Good site but the text is too small.
agree, the pattern is cool. I kinda wished the section pointer moved left to right to a section and not jumpped. other than that I see nothing wrong.
