'Real' smoke/steam effect!!

Hi, I'm working on a new flash site and really need to create a realistic smoke effect. I have a photograph with smoke already on it, but I want to animate the smoke to make it look more realistic. I saw this site: http://www.handsomemedia.com/handsome.htm

and the steam effect from the train is exactly what I want to create - but I don't know how! if any of you good people have a solution I will be forever in your debt!

I don't know, but I'm interested in the masking effect when you click on an item and a white screen falls away and displays the text, how is that done?
