Does anyone know how I can replicate the transition effect on the following url:

http://www.ifae.com/flash/index.html

Thanks

aw, thats webguy's site. Webguy, somebody likes your site! :)

I suppose i could leave this up for webguy, but I'll do my best right now. Its a masking effect, so when the user clicks the button, it tells mask_mc to play. And in mask_mc's timeline it would have it moving up and down. But you can say in its timeline, on frame 20, to change the main content to something, so that when the mask moves back up, new content appears! I'll through together a sample once I reinstall Flash. Damned computer problems.

Yeah the whole site is something special, its got loads of effects that are influencing me in a big way. Everything just oozes...

If you can give me just a basic idea on how that masking effect works because its something I would like to do.

I've seen it on loads of other sites too.

Cheers

Right, well seeing as i answered your ASP question, which you have ignored for some time now, i am reluctant to help you out (how hard is a thank you ?), however - my trust in human nature and belief that some day i will some how be repaid...i shall !!!

(That bit about being repaid was a joke)

Is the effect your looking for, like this:

http://www.uzi-lover.com/philosophie

in which case, you need a fla like this:

Hey, don't be so touchy.

I've had a bit of a busy week and your reply came at the same time that I had solved my problem. But thanks anyway,

And thanks for the animation transition. Very useful.

Nick

two points:

firstly) Just because my reply came at the same time as your solution, it does not mean that cannot say thank you.

secondly) A busy week, surely you could have found time to spare 30 seconds out of 168 hours to elicit a response from yourself.

They are completely invalid !!!!

I'm not going to pick sides or anything, but just remember. This is not a store. This is by web designers, for web designers, and we aren't paid to help. Keep it in mind next time you get help.

Ok, for one you don't know what sort of week I have had, please don't be an idiot, because I forgot to say thank you, I thank everyone who helps me, as I expect them to thank me if I help them, but if they forget I wont take it personally or care that much about it.

At the end of the day its not that important. This week a friend of mine at work lost a member of their family in the Istanbul bombing, England have won the world cup, I have completed a big project. So please go away and stop being a geek.

Goodbye.

Nick,

Although I feel everyone deserves equal opportunity, I'm not going to help you here again, and for that matter, everywhere. To not say thank you now, and furthermore, to call him a geek and insult him, should be a crime. Good life to you.

BTW: At the end of the day, its the little things that make your day good or bad. I sympathize with your friends family, and they have all my condolences, but to use that as an excuse not to say thank you is just wrong.

Hey whatever, but I didn't mean it to be insulting, and if he's sitting at home seething, or if you are making an issue because I forgot to say thank you, then jesus you people need to unplug and chill out.

If you don't wish to help me then thats up to you, it was a mistake in which I apologised immediately. And mate it is not a crime, so good life to you..................

Look i'm not making any excuses for forgetting to say thank you, i'm just saying that i'm not at my computer 24/7 waiting for people to message me, I have a life outside this silicon world. Is this all so necessary, honestly?

Warrior, please don't add fuel to the fire by interjecting where it's not needed.

If I had moderatorship of this particular area of the forum I'd lock it. General help moderator please?

Sorry annexion but there was no need for that idiot to take the name of God in vain.

I don't believe in god or jesus, so please don't call me an idiot for that. I don't call you an idiot for saying that God is Right.

Well i certainly don’t want to discuss religion in anyway, its way too heavy - this is a actionscript board - i don’t like it when it turns to things like this (general chat can tolerate such things).

Nick Toye,

I am not trying to make a big deal out of it, i was actually saying it for your own benefit. When you post quite a bit in relatively short succession on the forums (which you have, and that’s good) - however, if someone see's 10 posts by your name, and say 7 of them with no thanks, then the chances of getting it answered are dramatically reduced. I really was just saying it for your own good.

and if he's sitting at home seething......i'm just saying that i'm not at my computer 24/7 waiting for people to message me.

Neither am i, i was actually at the pub when all this was being written - i had a great time celebrating the Rugby victory, i got so drunk i woke up with all my clothes on this morning.

I just merely wanted to highlight the fact that to say thanks to the person who has helped you out, can often do your own cause more good, and is certainly not that much effort, moreover it is the polite and courteous thing to do.

Anyway, good job on completing the big project (that should make your week a good one surely?).

I am not great with ASP, so it took some work to get you a good answer, that would sort out possible problems you might be facing. Please take on board what i have said, and why i have said it.

Regards, snapple

Annexion: Although this thread was closed when I first read it I reopened it because I believe it was coming to a conclusion all by itself and didn't feel it necessary to force the issue as it generally leads to a bit of animosity on all sides.

Snapple: You've stated your case and went on to help Nick which shows you're not all that angry and an all around okay guy.

NickToye: You explained why you didn't say thanks the first time then thanked Snapple for his help on the new file. Maybe a lesson has been learned.

Warrior: You're going to have to ease up on the religion gig a bit if you're going to get along with people. Not everyone maintains your viewpoint in regards to religion or life in general and should not be criticized for being different. The phrase "turn the other cheek" comes to mind here as well as WWJD... I mean really would your Jesus call someone an idiot for not seeing "His" way?

Everyone: Feel free to work things out if you wish but if the name calling or hair-pulling gets too out of hand I'm sure the powers that be will re-close this thread.

For the record, the only Jesus I met was a guy who ran a hot dog stand in Philadelphia. He was way cool. I don't think he'd mind if Nick Toye (or anyone else for that matter) took his name in vain.

Thanks PixelWit for re-opening the thread :)
I hate when people close it and it doesn't have an end.

PixelWit, I didn't say anything about religion. I said why does he have to take the name of God in vain which I am asking why does he have to swear and using God's name just because he doesn't believe and it offends me and I am sure it offends other people aswell in this forum but they just don't say anything because they don't want to feel alone or they want people to be their friends. Can't he just say the words, f*ck and sh*it. Unless he takes back what he said I won't take back the word idiot
