hey i justed wanted to ask a question it may appear to be answered but ive read anything i thought releavant and i still cant do what i want to do, so yet again i am begging for help!
In flash mx there is a scroll box option i cant remeber adsacly what its called -its under components(not the scroll bar the other one with the box included) well i wanted to use this, and in this box import text from an external text file. how can this be done?
i want the text to include html tags and possibly able to display images. if that is possible.
I thank you in advance for any help!

from what i understand....the text from the text file has to load into a dynamic textfield.
FMX 2004 supports images in text fields....not FMX.
As for the combo box component in FMX, I'm not sure. From what I know you can load images and *swf files.
I guess what you can do is have seperate swf files that will load the text from a file.
And another that loads pictures.
Then load the swf files into the combo box.

Ahoy hoy,
Aren't you one lucky lucky lucky soul. I have this page bookmarked from the Macromedia website, and it should be bang on with what you need. Post if it helps or not. It tells you how to make it with a scroll bar, but I'm assuming their close enough. I can't tell you right now, I had to uninstall Flash.

BTW: you're also lucky because I know jack about components ;)

I was thinking it could easily be adapted... sorry, again, I know jack about it. I figured it would be like _x and _width, the difference between them. sorry :( I really need to get my act in gear.

I'm just j/k around.
Thanx for trying.
Edit:
Ok...I read up on the scroll pane component. Bad news. You can't do anything dynmaic w/ it.
All the MC has to be created before hand. It is mainly used for scrolling pictures that have been converted to MC.
for loading text from a textfile...take a look at the link that colin posted early. That should give you an idea on how to that.
Side Note: Now i am curious as to how buggedcom created those scrolling thumbnails dynamically. I should have taken a look at the original code when I had the chance. Now it is hughe.
