Re Flash MX

Does anyone know why static text justifies fine, but dynamic text doesn't? Is there any way around it? I am using either _sans or Arial.

One other thing. I have some very simple dynamic text/scrollbar pages, which show fine when using Test Movie (Ctr-Enter). However, when the page is loaded for real, the scrollbar is just a solid line, with no arrows and no movement.

Thx

Howdy... ;)

You could use TextFormat to make it justified to wherever you want it to be, but it probably will be depending on how you have textfield set up...

I've never heard of that sort of weird thing happening with the scrollbar...

What about a sample so that other people can see??? I think that's the fastest way to understand/solve your problem... ;)

CyanBlue,

I simply used the text formatting buttons under Properties. Can you explain what you mean by TextFormat and how to use it?

Re the scrollbar, I thought it might have something to do with the fact that this file was previously a Flash v4 file, which didn't support the scrollbar included in Flash MX. However, I updated the Publishing settings to Flash 6, so I don't know why it's a problem.

I have just uploaded a sample and it displays the justification fine, even though the Test Movie shows it as non-justified! The scrollbar problem is clear to see. It also doesn't seem to show the French é (ctr-alt-e) letter properly.

Um... I don't really want to go through all that explanation... :D
Flash manual has good description and example on the TextFormat... Check it out and ask questions if you have any... ;)

As for the scroller, I see the scrolltrack and arrow buttons and they are all working fine... What is the Flash Player version you have??? Do you see my signature up there??? Can you copy the last line for me??? ;)

As for the special characters... Read thses threads... ;)

OK, I'll RTFM on TextFormat ;-) Is there an issue with the in-built text formatting functions within Flash, ie. the ones I used?

I'm sure I had the Flash 6 plugin but, after you mentioned you could see the scrollbars OK, I went to the Macromedia site and downloaded the v7 plugin, which solved the problem. I can now see the scrollbars fine.

Thanks for the links re special characters.

Um... Normally there shouldn't be any problem whether you use the justification tool from the property panel or not, but I really don't know what's going on in your file, so I can't really say... ;)
