Howdy and Happy New Year to you all... ;)

It's not that I am going to learn ASP or anything but I am sorta curious... :D

This site... http://www.apache-asp.com
Is this the only way to compile and run ASP script on Apache web server???

If it is, it is really really ridiculous... The download is something like 25mb and I don't think it is really worth it... or am I just plain wrong???

I have no idea why you'd ever want to run ASP on Apache or even curious.

ISS = ASP

Tommcat = JSP

Apache = PHP

Thats how they were all meant to work, so it does not make sense to start changing things.

I think you can run Apache with ISS and you can certainly run Tommcat with ISS - although you may have to change some port numbers.

That said, interestingly there is Chillisoft ASP which allows you to run ASP on a *nix platform.

As for the download, well i am not too sure - but it would not surprise me if it was the only way - it's just another reason not to mix the two.

Hey, Happy new year, snapple... :)

Well... I am not sure... If you have IIS, you can certainly run ASP & PHP at the same time, right??? So, it does not make much sense to me that I have to have two web servers running at the same time to run ASP and PHP... Obviously I sure can run ASP & PHP at the same time on Apache if I EVER install that Apache::ASP stuff... But as I was saying, is it really a good way of handling things or would it be better if I install multiple web servers on my machine and change the port number whenever I call up the PHP or something like that...

:D

Happy new year to you too CyanBlue,

well it depends what your doing. If your just messing around then just give it a go, but if your serious about hosting then i would use two seperate servers.

If you are expecting lots of traffic then have one web server per machine.

Hope you had a good Christmas CyanBlue ?

Nononono... That's not, um, never going to be the case... :D

I occasionally see some ASP scripts either from the forum or from those places like HotScripts... Obviously I can read the script but I cannot really test the script unless the web server and any other supporting program supports the compilation of the ASP script...

So, I was just wondering if I'd need any special program, PHP package that I can download from the PHP.net in case of PHP, or some special web server is required or not...

Basically, I don't really want to download 25mb file over the 56k connection just to test ASP scripts occasionally over the Apache... But I am just wondering if there is any other way to do it over the Apache... Know what I mean??? ;)

Christmas??? What Christmas??? Ah... The day when I had to defend the AS.org cuz nobody was here... :( :D
