View Full Version : Me != Jobless Bum
CyanBlue
01-23-2004, 12:43 PM
Hehe... The good part... I've got a phone call from the company that I went to the interview last week and this week, and I've got the job... I am no longer a jobless bum who is sitting in the corder of the basement all day long... :D
The bad part... That place is about an hour drive from my apartment and I just renewed the lease of the apartment last month, so I am stuck in this apartment for 5 more months... But then, it is pretty much the usual for people around this MD/VA/DC area to spend at least one hour to commute... Oh, well... I'll survive... :)
Thankie all... :D

Most excellent, great job CyanBlue :). What's your focus in the new job btw?
CyanBlue
01-23-2004, 12:49 PM
Um... What focus??? Oh... The main objective of this job will be to find the time to spend more time at AS.org while I am at work... :D
The company has four main projects(2 big and 2 small in my opinion) which will be done by the fall... So, I'll be basically working on those projects... All programming and I work with the designers who will be providing me the 'design materials', so I can solely work on the programming part... :)

Yeah, that's what I ment. Sounds interesting enough.

*signals for beer*
When you starting?
CyanBlue
01-23-2004, 01:02 PM
The second week of the February, Colin...
Gotta take care of things around me first... :)
I gotta straighten up what I have so that I can go on even I work there... :)

That's awesome CB. Congrats! I'd love a job that I could just program and not have to worry at all about design.
CyanBlue
01-23-2004, 01:06 PM
Yeah, I know, dzy... I've been seeing lots of Flash designer ads around the net but there wasn't much of Flash developer position which I loved to be the part of... I think it is going to be great experience and learning ground for me... :)

Thank you but you gotta stop by at the AS.org more often... :)
@WArriro
Hehe... Thanks alot!! I stay there until I retire??? Hm... Actually that's not a bad idea... Well... I won't be telling how much they offered, but they offered more than I have asked and I like the people who I have interviewed... The only drawback is that it is about an hour drive, but I am sure I'd buy my own house before I retire... :)
@McGiver
Oh, come on... Stop giving me heart attack... I am honored whether you say 20th or 200th... :)

Yay!! Huge congrats, CyanBlue, you obviously deserve it. Let us know how things go. And I hope it doesn't take too much of your time away from AS.org ;)
Do you really think the certification helped? I just recently looked in to this. From the sample q's online the designer one looked really easy and the developer one looked like I would need some studying time, but still within my reach, eventually. This week, I actually found a company in my town that does flash :eek:. Though I'm sure that would be too much to ask for both of us to get a flash job in the same month:p
Again, Congratulations!!!
CyanBlue
01-24-2004, 04:52 PM
Well... I sure am going to find a way to sneak into the AS.org... No worries... :D
The thing is that the portfolio that I have showed them wasn't the best one that they might have seen... (Of course, I do not know how was other candidate's so I can't really tell...) And, they did not ask ANY of Flash question when I was on the interview... Most of them were general questions like how do you usually approach the project and such... So, it is logical for me to think that they bought the certificate in a good deal... :)
Hey, the tes wasn't the hardest thing I've ever done... It just required good knowledge in many aspects of web programming... That's all... I am sure you could get the certificate real easy if you prepare just a bit... (Just to let you know, I did not prepare anything for the exam... All I did was doing what I used to do... Helping others at the forum, and learn from them...)
That's good to hear that you found some place where you might be able to apply... Go for it... You never know what's going to happen... :)

Oh, come on... I'll do my best to find time to come to AS.org as long as they have computer and the Internet connection at work... :)
@JHallam
What??? Dedicate my lift to it??? Shhhhh... Don't ever say that again... My wife is going to be real mad if she hears that... :D
Well... I was abit cautious about telling the name of the company because there might be 'another' candidate in the AS.org... :( I am sure they are over this stuff already though... :)
This is the job description...
* Dead Link removed *
and basically I'll be doing the conversion processes of those existing menus under the Tools menu on the left into the Flash for half year or so... Some of those that they showed me during the interview were WeatherNet Camera and Map Gallery as a starter...
