importing text

I saw your link on the internet and saw you are flash experts and I was wondering if you could help me out?

I am having a problem with importing text into flash, I have a text box open and active, I go to > file >import>( to all the choices available)anywhere I tried them all.

All I get is it can’t read the extension and that’s it

What should I be doing?

what do you mean "importing text", you mean the actual fonts?

you can go into the fla's library (f11) and import fonts that way

I think he was refering to getting the actual text into flash. It can be dynamically loaded via LoadVars or you can simply copy (cntrl-c) and paste (cntrl-v). Hopefully, if thats the case, you've already found your solution by now.

hmm, he was trying to use ctrl + r, so that is why I thought he was trying to embed a font???

meanwhile Iv'e been trying to import an olive into a martini! :)

well, I got that impression from a pm he sent me (and undoubtably others) that same day :rolleyes: - but I could, of course, be wrong.

Me, I have been working on a 2004 component to batch convert images in the library to their own movieclips. (see: this thread (http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=41906) ) I will probably post it later today. Then I, too, will be working on importing an olive into a martini, I think. :D By the way, congrats on the move - I hadn't got a chance to post in the other thread yet. :)

wow! that component sounds very useful! :)

maybe we can co-create that olive component, so you go home and work on it right away, I'll do the same! :D
