is it possible to make a site counter using flash?

You'd need some sort of server side script that takes care of updating the visit counter... Go check out the server side scripting forum... There's gotta be several threads in it... :)

check out the tutorials section of this page, its called making a dynamic counter. Using Php and flash. That should help you out on what you need to do.
