www.discreet.com , get "gMax" Its 3Ds Max without rendering. If you do a search for "yafray" I think its called, its a maxscript renderer for it. That way you'll get the functionatlity of 3Ds Max, with no cost, but this sacrifices the support and the renderer isn't very userfriendly and take some getting used to. gMax is mostly used for making models and maps for games, but can be used for commercial applications too.
