HI
have a dreamweaver developed website and have made a little flash movie approx 149k that i want to embed in it. I am not able to test it on a browser yet ao can anyone tell me if this this .swf is too big? will it take a while before it can been seen on the web page? how do people get around this problem? How are paople making great flash websites that the browser display really quickly? Am confused! :(

149k on a standard modem will take about 30 seconds or about 3 seconds on broadband.
Some web sites design their flash movies so that each frame is less than what would be downloaded, this way they seem to run whilst being loaded. You can test this by running the flash fla via Ctrl and Enter and viewing the bandwidth profiler, the red line shows if the size is small enough for each frame to be run as downloaded.
Alternately try to make the flash file smaller - try to make items symbols that you can reuse, this saves a large amount of space.
Try using system fonts for text ie _sans as they will not be imbedded in the movie.

If there is enough of interest already on the page then does it matter as they will still be there in 30 seconds.
