shooting chunks out of a block

Hello all,
Perhaps someone may be able to point me in the right direction for this...

Space invaders style gun at the bottom of the screen...
I need to be able to shoot chunks out of a big block in the centre...
I have searched around but have found nothing.

each bullet (or laser beam or whatever) should blow a hole in a solid square, so that if you keep shooting it, it eventually disappears completely.

Any ideas?

What's that got to do with the Flash Remoting??? I don't understand... :(

Make the centre block several movie clips joined together.
Each of these movie clips will have several frames in them, going from completely solid to nothing, then everytime a bullet hits them just go to the next frame.
