View Full Version : General Remoting Question (limitations)

What are the limitations with remoting as far as server languages that can be used? For example, can I use some C++ functionality?

Also, could someone point me to some good documentation on it, Macromedia docs just bite.

Hi Cota,

As you have probably visited MACR you will be aware of the CF, .NET & JAVA flavours of remoting. There are also PHP, PERl and an open source java version as well.

Can you use C++ - not sure there (definately not a .NET person) but if you can use it with .NET the answer is possibly yes (server side).

There a couple of books that are invaluable if you really want to get stuck into remoting.
Flash Remoting - the definitive guide (O'Reily)
Complete Flash Remoting (Wiley)

Both books cover the principle remoting options and the former even covers AMFPHP.

Online there is limited info on some CF sites and AMFPHP is best serviced both from here and Flash DB.

I appreciate your response, unfortunately, Remoting wasnt the solution to the problem I was trying to solve. But I have found my solution, thanks for the response.
