why cant i open .fla 5 files?

I cant open flash 5 flies with flash 4, why? this is my favorite site.

Flash 5 files are not backwardly compatible. Files made in Flash 5 are saved in Flash 5 FLA format, and Flash 4 can only read Flash 4 FLA format.
You'll need to get FLash 5 to open Flash 5 files. I believe you can actually save Files (via flash 5) in Flash 4 format... but they wont work exactly the same as Flash 5 Actionscript contains many more elements.
