Hi, I had an idea of concept for my Website: a Movie Theater
A friend said it's a cool concept, but a bit old. So Someone knows a cool website with this concept? . I made some research on the web but I didn't find anything about others website with this concept...

I'll developed it a little

It'll be a Flash website, with sound and animation
Here is the concept, i'll try to explain it the best I can... Sorry, the sketch are really bad :

I want to mix 2d and 3d to have cool 3d architectural scene, but i don't want to model people... and with 2d characters, it'll be faster with Flash

I still don't know if It could be a mix with flash and html, or if the animation could be in 950X550 or more small, etc.

THE INTRO

It could start with an image of a movie Theater: I'm the show

On the schedule, you have the links: 2d, 3d, photography, etc...
I will be a old movie theater, probably made in 3d the more realist I can (ddd: maybe a good time to try MR ). The scene is around 9h pm, dark lighted by artificial ligne in the building.

On the "preview" pannel (we see usually posters of the film), I'll put some 3d I made as preview (probably a good place to put the new images I made). Maybe I could add a small board will the news and update.

If you click on one of the link, you'll enter. But it won't be a full animation, probably only a kind of transition (I don't want to have a 300 megs website)

You'll probably hear urbain sound, and don't forget I want to focus on Architecture, because it's the my studies...

TRANSITION AND PREA-LOADER

Instead of using standard prealoder, I'll use this animation. let me explain.

The loading animation will be simple. you'll see a ticket booth and some people waiting. maybe this part could be in 2d (carton, like leisure larry or vice city, see my other post). so the animation is simple, you'll see people pay tickets and go in (If your connection is really fast, you'll only see 1 or 2 people pay, and with a slower connection, you'll see more people buying tickets). After you'll buy you ticket and the woman you say: "3d, 6.50$)

The animation is finished

Now it's simple, you'll be seat in front of the screen, the room could be in 3d, with a small volume light. You'll see shadows of people (they'll be probably made in 2d and will move a little during the "movie)

5-4-3-2-1, maybe a small credit animation: Made by David Lavoie, bla bla bla. You'll hear some voices: Shut!, etc. It could zoom on the screen to have something bigger

Now you'll see all the image on the screen, you'll be able to enlarge them if you click on them (maybe 4 to 8 on each page, with a next button and a back button). Maybe they'll be enlarged on another page, still don't know.

You can click on "Exit" to go out to the "Intro scene" to choice something else.

Here is a simple test of the movie theater in 3d. I didn't add textures, and the lightning is just a test.

awesome, but as a suggestion i would maybe have like a large queue of peoeple, and they go in to show that the movie is loaded (e.g. there are lots of people outside when it is strting to load, and more go in as the loading reaches %100)> sup to you tho. sounds good man.

execution > originality! I think that the concept has certainly been used, but the reason I can't think of any sites is because they were all weak : ) From the test render I think this one could be fun ^_^ Keep us updated!

and as far as bandwidth, it might look cool as fading low-framerate sequences if done right. like natzke's macronature, haunting shifts in perspective without having to worry about high-res high-framerate video : ) If you do go video though, definitely .flv!

if you go with the fading sequence concept, some animated overlays (sort of like how you mentioned people in 2D) would be great...you know, some insects swarming around lights as 2D looping overlays...some lights flickering here and there...a light-run around the marquee. along with some good ambient sound (and not just a few loops layered, some random 'events' like a car driving by, people murmering..some easter eggs, of course!)...man, that could be a hot site ^_^ w00t!
