Top 10 Designers

I'm doing a report: I need to know

A) the top 10 designers working in new media right now

B) the top 5 contests/awards shows

Any thoughts?

In my opinion I'd say the top new media designers/developers would be:
2Advanced Studios (obviously)
24-7 Media
Fantasy Ineteractive
FlashLevel

As far as awards go, the only 2 I pay attention to are
FWA (Favorite website awards)
ITA (Internet Tiny Awards)

yup those 4 up there are pretty leet but to name just developers
I know Eric Jordan of 2A
and the 24-7 Media guy is a solo designer

Group 94 is also amazing

The biggest Flash-related show is the Flash Forward Festival: http://www.flashforward2004.com

as far as "top 10"...it's really difficult, you have to qualify what's important to your survey. As far as the purveyors of the 'in' modern webdesign style, people like:

Joshua Davis
Eric Natzke
Prate
Harsh Patel
etc... come to mind. Basically a bunch of people from dreamless : )

In fact, Joshua Davis, while a good designer, is in my opinion more important to the social aspect. the dreamless board really challenged a bunch of already great designers to get even better by pitting them head to head against their peers ^_^

And to Timmee, I can't remember his name either...I knew it back when the site first launched and it was on threeoh, but I can't remember his name. You can find it in that recent interview with the AS creator, he pointed that site out as one of his 'favourites' ^_^
