Howdy, all! :)

What is considered the a safe setting for Frames Per Second for computers nowadays. I have gone up to 17 fps, but after seeing banners such as the ones used at http://www.salesforce.com/ and the smooth-as-glass animation, I am wondering if they used a higher fps.

Any thoughts on this?

I often use 48, I used to use the standard 12 when I started out, when I realised you could set it to your own wishes I sometimes used 24, but that wasn't always enough...with 48 your pretty safe 'n' smooth

Also check the poll on FPS (http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=45508) started by cmbarsotti....

But, If you are also incorporating small sound bytes in the movie...then stick to 12 fps...

I hate people like you
You make the banners that chug older machines and make web pages hardly navigable.

IMO No Flash movie should be over 30 unless for testing purposes. Flash is a CPU-intensive app that does not use the GPU so it will easily eat up your processor cycles and choke your computer.

I use 12-18 for animation; 24 for other.

I personally find that anything faster than 30 fps dogs unless you have a blazing machine (which most people don't). It depends on the motion in your movie.
