hi.
i've perused several sites and found many version 1 calendar components. what i'm trying to do is build my own calendar component in actionscript 2.0. i'm just getting started and was wondering if anyone could point me to a good starting point or help me understand transferring and updating v1 components to version 2. i've read several tutorials on building components but am still rather new to it all.
thanks. fumeng.

well, i've spent the day searching for calendar components and only came up with those built with version 1 architecture. instead of building mine from scratch i've decided that i'd like to extend the functionality of the DateChooser component offered in 2004 Professional as it does exactly what i need it to do save 1 small thing.
i've perused the files, including CalendarLayout.as and DateChooser.as. I've even reviewed the StandardComponents.fla which is in the Flash program files (under the folder ComponentFLA) to see how it (and essentially all of the components) were set up. but i'm still struggling a bit.
does anyone have experience extending current components that shipped with mx2004? or does anyone have some useful advice?
thanks. fumeng.

Did you ever figure out how to the extend the DateChooser?
I'm interested in adding buttons for moving forward and backward by year in addition to the buttons for moving by month.

i didn't figure it out. the DateChooser component is made up of 2 class files: CalendarLayout.as and DateChooser.as.
i tried extending it but it was just far too difficult, so I decided to build one on my own (thought that'd be good practice anyhow).
i'm still struggling thru it but am learning a lot. i know that a lot of the v1 components i saw had the jump by year buttons so you may just want to check them out to see how they did it.

I assume that this question belongs to FMX 2004 not FMX...
I'm moving to FMX 2004 - Components forum...
