hello,
I am using MX 2004 and would like for the accordion component I am using, to have a preloader play while the movieClips load into the accordion.
Can someone tell me how this is done?
Thanks,
xcaliber

I believe this belongs to the components forums, I will move it
also, preloades load b4 the main movie, so if u wanna make a preloader for a component, go in the librara and chose it>>linkage>> uncheck the 'Export in first frame'
im not sure how you wuld do this cos i've never used the accordian component, but i think you;ve got the wrong end of the stick here faffy.
my understanding is that he doesn't want to preload the accordian component, but the preload the clips that sit inside the component.

Maybe u r right Tink
but also I am almost right in a way, I think he/she wants to make a preloader for the swf while the swf contains an accordian conponent that loads some MCs', and I think this would be as the scrollPane thing
AND the 'Export in first frame' must be unchecked also for preloading the component
see, I am always right :p ;)

If you want to preload any of the standard components in Flash MX 2004 you have to first move a component on to the stage (so that you get it in your library. If you are placing the components dynamically you just remove the component again from the stage.) After that, you right click the component in your library, go to linkage; untick the export in first frame checkbox. Then you go to the menu and select File -> Publish settings and then click the actionscript settings. Here you set the export frame to be a frame AFTER your preloader and BEFORE(!) you use the component in your movie. It should load correctly (given that your preloader is correct :P)
