First, I'm new to this forum and thanks for coming to read my thread.

http://www.atb-music.com , then Flash site.

I like the way everything moves fast, looks like layering and alpha blending, then zoom ins and zoom outs. I am looking for any links or tutorials so I can learn from, or even good books from online pros to learn about crazy actionscripting, which I was never big on.. I used to be crazy about flash two years ago, and now I feel more intimidated of some websites than I need before. Also, this sounds gay but, I want to meet some people I can talk to if I need help. Please email or reply to the thread. rortegaPVD@hotmail.com - Thanks.

Well, aszkicker, I´m in pretty much the same situation that you... wanna get "there" in AS, but gotta take the small steps...

I just wanna know how to make that alpha effect used on the photos... I know it´s not alpha, it look more like levels, or burned picture. Anyone can help?

Thats a pretty cool site, would have taken ages to getting it all looking that good, i like how everything just exits via the top of the screen when you click a menu, but also when you click the aerial at the start and it moves scrolls downwards, i think you really want to look at easings for most of these effects, ie start off slow then get faster

if u have no problem to do this without scripting then use advanced effect (adjusting color values) which is there in flash when u give tween to ur image or whtever.

this thread talks about the same image effect. there is an online example and downloadable example towards the end of the thread

aszzkicker i feel the best place to learn is on forums like this. i'd recommend getting a few beginner books on flash, and then play around with it. just keep putting in the time. the site that you posted also has great design. so you may want to look into graphic design or interactive design.

you can usually hook up with people at macromedia user groups, although this would obviously depend on your location.

This photo transition, also employed here: http://www.truevast.com, is quite simple to pull off (for one with Photoshop & Flash).

(1)
Okay step one is to have the picture as you want it to look after the transition. Easy enough....lol.

(3)
Step two is to open that picture in Photoshop, make sure that it is in RGB (and not grayscale, indexed, etc.).

(4)
You can then mess around with the brightness and contrast and save the new image under another filename. But if you want more controls then you duplicate the layer. Set the blending as either overlay, color dodge, linear dodge (or be experimental and try some others) and mess with the fill (not opacity) of the top layer. You can also mess around with blurs, etc. Then save under another file name.

(1)
For the last step we move to good ol' Flash. Import your final image into the movie, and place it were it goes. Then import the transitional image into the library of that movie. Select your finised image and do "insert::convert to symbol" and make it a graphic. wow....i'm tired so i'll assume you can take it from here (alpha tween), if not i'll finish this tutorial up sometime. :-D

this effect can be done completely inside flash with one image. see the link above for an example
