I searched on the forums but couldnt quite find what i needed.
Anyhow, im making a simulation of a theme park ride in 3D, i have a professional 3D modeler who is doing all the 3D objects for me.
However, i am unsure as if i can import the 3D files into Flash and then how to arange them in on the stage. Is it possible, and if so what format do i need the 3D files sent to me as.
If Flash cant handel it can anyone suggest another programe. There will be a lot of 'if' statements and rotation on a number of axis but appart from that it would be quite simple.

You can import MAX files into Macromedia Director (Shockwave). I suggest going that route for such a game.
It's only possible to fake 3D in Flash, and it would be a very large undertaking to do what you want most likely : )

Could you reccomend a good place to learn Director (Lingo i think its called?) which i would need for the game.
Or even someone who would be willing to help out in this project in the early stages?
Thanks a lot for your info

Learn Lingo to make 3D game???
Dang... That's going to be very long and rough road I must say...
(Not that I am against petefs' idea... That sounds right to me...)

How about Swift3D? It makes 3d vector :)

Friends of Ed ( http://www.friendsofed.com ) has some very good books on Director & Lingo, but I believe they're all out of date right now. I learned 3D lingo from one of them, can't remember the name of the book though... I'm sure there are other publishers with up to date books out, however : ) Shockwave is still popular it seems.
It's not as hard as CyanBlue makes it out to be ^_^ If you have flash experience it should take a few days to get used to the differences. It's definitely a very powerful authoring environment. : )
As far as using Swift3D or Plasma, which make 3D vectors, remember that these are not truly 3D objects. You will need to render out every bit of visual information that could possibly be seen. It's not a very good platform for interactive sim, but if what you intend is a static presentation it will serve your purpose. In that case I believe Swift3D will import any standard mesh -- does the new version import 3DSMax materials (if anybody knows?). Plasma should import the native 3DSMax file along with materials, seeing as they're both Discreet products now.
Hope that helps : )
