Why

Looking at some of the tutorials here I've noticed that I'm missing something. When I have a font selected (MX) on the Properties bar at the bottom, I have all the usual selections, Font, Size, Static etc, etc. I missing - "Var:" and "Character". Am I missing an update that has these specific additions? Or is this only available on the windows version? I'm using Mac. There is an empty area for these things but they are not there. Any suggestions?

I just answered my own question. Sorry for the confusion. The properties panel changes depending on the type of text, Static, Dynamic, Input.
