View Full Version : Embedded fonts, where the F*#! did they come from?

Hey all, this might be a dumb question, but I have a small movie, that claims to have an extra embeded font, making it about 3k larger than it has to be..

I can't locate any text field that would have this font embeded, is there a good way to find any and all text fields in a movie, regardless if they have text in them?

(Bonus points if you can tell me how to output a 2.0 movie, without the 2.0 class bloat)..

Thanks in advance!

Are you using MM components?

But at one time I had a combobox on the stage and removed it. It doesn't show up in the library..so it seems there are no components associated with the movie any more...

Try checking Generate Size Report in your publish settings, and republish...

That will create a text file telling you exactly what is used & where

Been staring at that for a couple hours now..

Font Name Bytes Characters
---------------------- --------- --------------
Lucida Grande 8 pts 2604 !"#$%&'()*+,-./0...
Silkscreen 8 pts 2985 !"#$%&'()*+,-./0123...
B ITCKabel Bold 910 ?ADGI...

Lucida Grande is the culprit...The block that now holds the Silkscreen font was most likely Lucida Grande first...this makes no sense...grrr MM

Any thoughts?

I would try deleting the textfield and recreate it...

Also double check that you don't have any extra, empty text fields with the embedded font lurking around anywhere..

That was the original thought - how would I go about finding empty text blocks..is there any better way than just frame by frame?

Movie Explorer panel might help...

Just tried replacing the text block with Silkscreen with an entirely new one...nada - and you would think the find and replace with font setting would do it, but it could find nothing...ahhh, is this a bug discovered?

I wouldn't trust the Find & Replace...it doesn't seem to find dynamic text fields with embedded fonts in a Font search...

Well, confirm that the block that is holding the silkscreen font is the culprit - I have created it from scratch, re-embeded Lucida and then switched it back to Silkscreen - still embeding Lucida..."you are about to enter, the Twilight Zone..."
