Dynamic Text Fields

Uhm, this me be the dumbest but, how does one go about creating those "dynamic text fields" to use in preloader movies?

:) bring up the text pannel ('A" button, absolute bottom right of Flash editing environment)
go to text Options Tab
Select Dynamic from the drop down
Select the text tool, click ont he stage, astalazania, don't get any on ya.
