Ever seen one of those 3D cubes made in flash that are made up of lines and spin around depending on the the coordinates and speed of the mouse? well it is those lines that join the cube up, however, i would like to see if anyone on here could make one of those cubes spin and have each corner of the cube react as a different menu item, purely done usi ng script of course!
I think this would be a pretty challenge, and I'm pretty sure I have explained what I am talking about good enough, if not add a post.
OBJECT: A cube made up of lines that spins around in a '3d' way depending on your mouse movement and have each corner react to the mouse when rolled over to display a menu item.
40 lines of code. 48 hours. Good luck! :)
Hmmm
not realy understand how you will chatch a corner then it will move away when you move the mouse (will be stresi to get the corner you want!)
onasiam >> This has been done 25 billion times already :/ You can find sources easily, if that's what you're looking for.

nah i'm not looking for a source, I just wanted to see if you guys could do it! Oh wells, it was just for a bit of fun
Sorry, my comment was a bit rude :) The thing is: it really has been done loads of times, and it might be hard being creative with such a precise theme...

I dont really care if its been done a million times (this isnt exactly what the guy asked for in his requirements anyway). Its more like a (press home and the cube spins left, press end and the cube spins right, press any arrow key and the cube moves in the direction of the corresponding arrow key) piece of crap. 13 lines of code and it took 2 minutes to make.

Hmm... Sirkink, looks like you're some sort of cheater :) Onasiam asked for full prespective-based 3d engine with z-coordinates and stuff, and you've got only rotating sprite ;)

haha it's all good guys, I just wanted to join in on the fun. I'm not a very good coder at all, but what you guys generally do is amazing, so I like seeing what you can do. I tend to animate by hand more then anything. I'm working on a site that's very far from finished (www.onasiam.com) but that's the sort of stuff I do, I just love seeing what you guys do with code that's all and I thought it would be a cool little thing to see done. But I do understand, you are right, it has been done sooo many times before! Cheers for having a go if ya did though :)

Hmm yeah been done before, heres a good tute for doing similar but with faces instead of the corners http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/faces_depths.htm
Thanks Dr Warm for a good sample

I like that example, Dr Warm, but has anyone seen a version that will do the following:
- cube rotates and interacts with the cursor as per example provided by Dr Warm
- a button menu tree is shown beside the cube. When the mouse is over a button the cube spins to the side which matches that menu item and stops.
