Movie clip inside a movieclip

I'm making a preloader, trying to anyway. My problem is that I made a movie clip following this tutorial http://www.sitepoint.com/article/script-dna-double-helix The tutorial works fine if I have it in the main scene but not if I have it in a movie clip. I want it to do the double helix animation and have a percentage bar along the bottom of it so i would need to make the helix animation have a movie clip inside a movie clip. Hope I made sense, thanks in advance.
