Howdy... :)

I just followed this blog entry to create a FLV file in the FMX 2004...
http://www.flash-mx.com/news/archives/000072.cfm

It looks great but I lost the sound...
The original MOV file has the sound but somehow I don't have the sound...

Video Import - Audio Track is set to 'Integrated' just in case...

So, am I doing something wrong or is it the way it is with FMX 2004??? (I am sure it is me since it doesn't make sense that FLV lose the audio...)

Can somebody tell me how to generate the FLV file with the sound??? :)

Any other pointer on how to generate the FLV file such as some program suggetion would be nice as well...

Thank you...

I'm not sure about the problem itself, although there may be an answer available on http://www.flvplayer.com/forum/

As far as another program to generate FLVs -- if you're oging to be doing a lot of this sort of work, using something like Sorenson Squeeze (available in a Flash flavour or Compression Suite which handles many formats) is a good idea. The cost should be quickly offset by the time saved by templating, and the pre-processing and preview abilities will ensure that you save a lot of time getting the best quality out of your FLV.

http://www.sorenson.com/ has links to their Squeeze software on their front page. Seeing as they developed the Spark codec used in FLV, the quality should be second to none (at least from what I know right now ^_^)

Good luck, CB!

Yeah... I remember hearing that name alot when FLV was first introduced... Sorenson Squeeze... I'll check on that... Probably I won't be the one who takes care of it... It will be one of the designer's job to do... So, I guess I'll need to find one for the Mac and PC at the same time... Thanks... :)

Sorry, covering this belatedly as I just ran into the same problem today and ferretted out an answer.

The problem with sound dropping from .mov files is that the audio track is usually precompressed with mpg4 or something smiliar. Try creating the .mov with no audio compression. That should work (did for me).

Hope this helps future lost video nerds.

same problem happened today while yesterday it worked fine with the same source file.

It just won't export out of Flash with sound.

It works fine when I use QT Pro to export the flv. And it's a better export interface, more options for compression.

Hope I helped, you've helped me before.

I have had a lot of problems with FLV allow me to give an over view so far..
1) Make sure you update "squeeze program" that came with MX 2004 from Macromedia
2) Importing an avi/mov/mpeg into flash and then converting it to flv is a BAD idea. I always loose the sound. To fix this Convert it using the "sqeenze" plugin from the whatever movie program you use (e.g. QuickTime) Here the setting are important b/c you could get crappy quality so set it high.
3) once you got FLV don't embed it into flash (that the point of get an FLV) make sure you stream it in. When you embed it the quality goes to hell in a hand basket for some reason. Again the sound can be lost also.

Okay...that has just been some of my experiences with FLV latetly
@ CyanBlue, it looks like you just got MX 2004 lately, right?
