Interacting with File System: Options?

I have come to understand that Flash is very weak on direct interaction with the windows file system. Need to load/save files, launch executables, etc.

What options (paid/free) do i have through third parties??

Flash Studio Pro, SWF Studio, mProjector, Screenweaver, JTools are the ones that I can think of on top of my brain... They are all paid ones though... Not sure if there is any free one out there or not... unless you make your own wrapper for it...

there is one other i just thought about the other day.... its hoakie (exposes my oakie roots). embed your swf file in a word document, use fscommand to interact with vba functions (inside word), and use vba to interact with the filesystem..... don't know if it will work, i'm gonna play around with it one of these days tho.

Hm... That's very interesting idea, but how do you preview the Flash object in the Word document??? It is pretty much static when I embed the Flash object... I only see the frame 1... Hm...
