Does someone know about a good free host w/ PHP support?

Hello.

I’m trying to test a PHP that sends the information of some data fields to a mail address (a send mail form) but I’m having some trouble to test it online, mostly because right now I’m relying in free host services and I heard that some of that servers deactivate some PHP commands that are needed in order to run such scripts. I tried to find some good host that supports PHP via Google but I didn’t find anything besides spamm. Has someone had successfully run a server side send mail script on a free host? If it’s possible I will be glad if someone can give me an advice about a good free host (not necessarily to be host that supports PHP. If I can send it via CGI or ASP it will be good too).

Erm, dunno about the mail-thingie, though there was this one time I needed free php-hosting for a guestbook and ended up at lycos...have you tried that one?

lycos.co.uk offers php support WITH mail support, meaning you can use a php file on lycos and make it send emails to people. I've tried it and it does work.

Thanks for your answer pi I triyed in lycos, but I wasn't able to find the link to sing in for the host. Can you tell me were is it? It's a big page and it's confusing to browse across it (at least for me).

You could probably get a cheap hosting which you can use PHP/MySQL less than $5.00 if you google for it... I'd say get a cheap one instead of the Lycos one cuz you probably will get more confused later on... Just my 2 cents... :)

These aren't free but if you design for a living or freelance then you can deduct the cost of your host fees at the end of the year from your taxes as a business expense so it works out fine. Also $5-7 a month is nothing really.

Don't know if you care or not but I've been using Lunarpages www.lunarpages.com . They offer PHP, 1GB of space, 50GB bandwidth, mySQL included (1database, extras are more) , ASP add on for $1.00 more a month, JSP addon for $2/month more and they offer all the other things like code snippets and webmail etc. I pay like $7.00/month.

Another big one is Host Rocket www.hostrocket.com

A lot of the design and flash sites use Media Temple http://www.mediatemple.net/

I would just look around and see what they have to offer and see if anything matches what you want. Those are my 3 suggestions, I almost went with all of them after lots of research but took a chance on lunarpages because they offered more per dollar than media temple. So far so good.

I'm with you Xeef, this guy just makes meaningless posts alot. 7/8 of the threads I've seen him start are total noob questions that have been answered thousands of times (like "how do I make a preloader??"...I'd like to poke people in the eye for asking a question like that :mad: ) Does this guy even know how to search the forums??, or even know what the word "search" means?? I don't even understand his avatar's signature...I sure hope that's not true, his clients would not exactly get what they want if they hired him...

HAHAHAHAHAHA not reali we have this method called "wou bei" (a direct translation is "five pens") and its a way to translate the english keyboard into chinese with maximum efficency

Besides i have a account with them and they are the best to what i've seen. However the only problem that they have and annoys me is their unpredictable down time... though 99.5% of the time they are up (only 0.4% different from some other hosts so it aint much)
