Button in MC in MC doesn't work

I'm working on a CD presentation. I inserted a scrolling area, consisting of a MC. This MC contains a masking layer and there's an other MC on the masked layer. In this second MC I should place several buttons, which should trigger diffrent actions (navigate in the timeline and define a global variable).

Is it impossible to place working buttons in MCs like this?

you can embed the buttons but you need to make sure that the action they call has the direct path. when you embed the buttons inside of a MC you are changing it's _root. path. you'll either need to step back to make a relative call or start over from _root.
