Hi. It'd really be nice to have a forum for ActionScript 2.0, but this place is full of ActionScript 1.0 (let's call it "legacy" or "old-skool") code and questions. Can we start an ActionScript 1.0 separate forum and reserve this one for AS2 questions.... Either that or move all of the old-skool coding/questions to the non-2004 category.
Thanks!
(I'm going on strike if this doesn't change.)

Class Strike {
private var active:Boolean;
public function Strike() {
active=false;
}
public function demandsMet():Void {
// AS 1.0 kept out of AS 2.0 forum
active=true;
}
}
:)
demandsMet={active:true} :p

I'm with you smoothhabitat ;)....I think part of the reason so many AS 1.0 questions end up in the AS 2.0 forum is because:
A: People don't bother looking where they're posting their question
or
B: People think nobody visits the other forums and they think no one will answer their question
HEL-LOOOOO!!!!!!!!! stupid people, an icon next to the forum tells you if there is a new post in it, I don't find it that difficult to notice the difference between a lightbuld that's "On" and a lightbuld that's "Off"...does anybody else??
Let's hope people learn someday...not likely :rolleyes:

:)
And C: People don't know what AS 2.0 is, so they just post in it anyway....

Kind of ironic...

My tuppence: Maybe in that case, the boards should be renamed.
People who are using MX2004 naturally navigate to the MX2004 boards... and this is the only board in there referenced as actionscript. The board description reads "Post ActionScript questions relating to Flash MX 2004 and Professional 2004 here."
Which totally does mean the only post in the wrong place is this one.. yay!! heheh :p :D
Maybe admin could rename the forums: "General Questions" = "Using Flash" and "Actionscript 2.0" = "MX2004 Actionscript" then add another one called "Object Oriented Actionscript 2.0" or something like that.
Just thought I'd put my ideas forward :D
p.s. It's working pretty well as it is!! Good point though... I wonder, what is the proper definition of an "actionscript 2.0 question" ? :D
most of AS 1.0 is part of AS 2.0 anyhow.
so are you asking for an OOP AS 2.0 forum, as the post here are qualified AS 2.0.

yes! an OOP AS 2.0 forum would make me a very happy coder! i'm addicted to actionscript.org, so i don't want to leave for some icky board like flashkit (where they've been doing some sweet mariokart 3d stuff) or the wiki (where they snob it up) :)

I just moved this thread to the General Chat forum... :D
I do agree that AS 1.0 is a part of AS 2.0... Having said that, we do not have FMX 2004 forum or AS 1.0 forum, so the only logical option would be either creating anothre forum or mingling with everything we have... But that all depends on how the owner of the forum feels... (I remember several threads with this discussion a while ago...)
I cannot do all the work, but if you spot some threads that belongs to another forum, let me know and I'll see if I can move the threads... BUT, don't PM me cuz my PM box is pretty much full all the time... Email me if you can find a way... :)
