Hi. I guess this isn't really an actionscript question so much as something I'm sure alot of you know. I was offered a chance to make a flash website for a nonprofit company. I have never done anything comercially before. How much is a reasonable amount to ask for for a standard informational website in flash?

In the future, there are forums more appropriate for this kind of thing -- this forum is for Actionscript 2.0 ^_^ Try 'General Chat' next time.
But on to the meat of it: a nonprofit company will rarely have much money to give you up front. The best way to make money from a nonprofit contract is to bill a relatively small amount in real money, then have the nonprofit organization pay the rest by calling your services a charitable donation. This way you can claim the donation for tax reduction, and the nonprofit organization loses none of it's precious liquid assets.
I know I didn't give you an exact figure, but it's very difficult to say with a nonprofit organization. I would talk to them and try and work out a scenario like above. There is no 'standard' informational website in flash, and your rate should reflect your skill-level with regard to the amount of work you need to complete the site. Make a time estimate for how long it will take you to complete the project, and multiply that by a self-judging hourly rate ; ) Anywhere from $25-$50 will probably be commensurate, but that's not for me to say ^_^
Good luck whatever you do! : )

The above suggestion is good, in the case of commercial, I chage $100 per page for standard (non-flash, non-dynamic) webpages. This would inlcude graphics, msuic, layout and design, yadda yadda. For flash, like programming, an hourly rate is best, because there is a lot of non-standard work done. Usually, tho, for every hour you work on an html based site, you might spend 5-10 on a flash page. That's why flash sites are so much money. When you thro in dynamic content, it gets up there.
$50 per hour is good for a good experienced devloper, tho you can certainly get away with more. I charge this because I work alone for the most part.
Another suggestion for non-profit, is to charge maybe 20 percent down, and then finance the rest over time. But as mentioned above, give them a 20-30 percent discount on the price. They'll give you a charitable donation receipt, like mentioned, and not only that, but if you can get them to promote you to other organizations, you can attain more work. Over time, this can be desireable and more profitable. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I will take all of this into considerations. Cheers.

If I were you I would offer to do it for free as long as you can put a link on there to link to your website to bring in more business. Unless you can get them to pay you and let you put a link that would be a plus..
